The site will also allow our readers to upload their own photos, videos, blogs, comments and announcements of general interest to the Molokai community.

Update: Sept. 23, 2011 — Well, summertime has come and gone, my oh my. Some progress has been made on the new website as I have added about 60 stories to it. With over 730 stories on The Molokai News, the process of updating the site is slow, tedious and somewhat frustrating. If anyone is motivated to speed up this process, I would be happy to provide administrator privileges to the interested individual. Email me at themolokainews@gmail.com and we can talk.
I Mua!

I’ve seen this preview of the new website for about six months now. When does this thing actually go up?
That’s a very good question, astute reader! Unfortunately, the process of transferring all the text, photos and captions from WordPress to a new website designed in PHP is, well, a complicated thing. Now that the school year is over, the editor/publisher for The Molokai News will have more time to devote to these technical issues. I do not like to make promises, but if all goes smoothly the new website will be rolled out before the end of the summer.
Hey David,
The website looks great!! Looks like you live in a truly beautiful place. Any need for lawyers out there (the good kind)?
Brian,
Hawaii (along with a lot of places, I’m sure!) is always in need of good lawyers. The really competent lawyers here are bought and paid for by the corporations, leaving the public interest concerns to a handful of either overworked or incompetent attorneys. The sovereignty movement here (see story http://themolokainews.com/2011/07/12/lawful-hawaiian-government-reaches-out-to-molokai/) is surely in need of a good lawyer to guide them through international and U.S. law, as well as the basics of political organization. Many environmental groups and other important non-profits here need legal counsel as well.
Thanks for the comments and keep reading The Molokai News!
