The County of Maui Department for Environmental Management has announced new refuse collection and landfill schedules as of Aug. 1, 2014.

The hours at the Molokai landfill have changed.

The hours at the Molokai landfill have changed.

Residential refuse pick-up schedules will remain the same except for no pick up on county holidays. On Molokai, for those whose normal pickup falls on a holiday, your rescheduled date is the same week on Friday.

At the Molokai landfill, the hours are now 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday and closed on county holidays.

The reduced landfill hours and modified holiday schedules have become necessary due to limited budget resources. The Solid Waste Division priorities are focused on safety, meeting county, state and federal environmental regulatory requirements and building sustainability of community services. The Solid Waste Division will continue to use improvements in waste conversion, technology, cost-effective diversion and efficiency use of its approved resources to meet its identified goals and measures.

The County of Maui appreciates your understanding and cooperation.
