Punana Leo O Molokai Ho’omau planned for April 13

Punana Leo O Molokai will present its annual Ho’omau concert on Saturday, April 13, at the Lanikeha Center in Ho’olehua from 9 a.m.- 4p.m.

This concert will help raise awareness of the Hawaiian language and culture. The event will also raise funds for Punana Leo O Molokai, the only Hawaiian language preschool on the island.

The theme for this year’s event is Pupukahi I Ola Ka ‘Olelo Hawaii (unite together so the Hawaiian language may flourish).

Enter the lucky number drawing to win wahine toa clothing, a hibachi grill, a Kindle Fire HD, a 50-inch flat panel television and more.

The free event will feature great Hawaiian music from emcees Na’ilima Gaison and Kawehi Avelino-Hayes, Punana Leo O Molokai, Kula Kaiapuni O Kualapu’u, Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna, Keiki Zumba with Kala Bishaw-Juario, ‘O Hina I Ka Malama, Hamakua-Napoleon ‘Ohana, Na Haumana O Ka Papa ‘Olelo Hawaii Kula Nui, Hanakahi Serenaders, In Thee Skies and Sudden Rush.

Vendors include Kealopiko, Po Mahina Designs, Teas of Hawaii, Hamakua’s Coffee, Bradda Pop’s and more.

Ono food will be offered, including laulau plates, pork laulau plates, fried fish, shave ice, pronto pop, hamburgers, saimin, chili cheese nachos and more.

Information booths will be there from HMSA, Maui Electric Company, I Ola Haloa – a Native Hawaiian program of UH Hawaii College, Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Kana’iolowalu.
