A 20-year old Molokai woman needed medical assistance Sunday in Halawa Valley during a hike up to Moaula Falls.

Engine 12 responded to Halawa at 1:38 p.m. to treat a woman who apparently suffered a severe allergic reaction, according to Maui Fire Chief Lee Mainaga.

An off-duty doctor on the scene said he believed the woman was in anaphylactic shock. CPR was not performed. The woman was assisted by firefighters down the trail to waiting medics. She was transported to Molokai General Hospital in stable condition.

Rescue 10 and Air 1 provided additional support at a nearby landing zone but in the end were not used.
