The Molokai Lions Club raised over $1,500 to help improve the eyesight of local people during their Walk for Sight event Sept. 29.

Molokai Lions Club News Release

The first Lions Walk for Sight on Molokai, held Sept. 29, was a huge success, thanks in particular to our major corporate sponsor, Monsanto. This is the first year for what is intended as an annual event of the local Lions Club.

Last Saturday, Lions and volunteers walked around the center of Kaunakakai in Lions T-shirts and raised more than $1,500 to support our commitment to improving the quality of sight for Molokai residents. All funds raised will stay on Molokai.

Through the generous support of many people, the Molokai Lions Club will be able to bring the Vision Van back to Molokai in November and to provide for the Maui eye doctors and technicians, who also assist in the vision screening of our keiki in the spring. Dates, locations and times will be announced within the next two weeks concerning the “big bus” vision van for retina screening.

A special thanks to Teri Waros of the Kalele Book Store for the use of her facility. Other corporate sponsors, including the Molokai Chamber of Commerce, GT Enterprises and Kaunakakai Auto Parts, also contributed to the success of this event. A very special mahalo to all of you!
