Maui County is requesting proposals for two different operations at the Molokai Landfill.
The landfill in Naiwa, the only landfill on the island, is in need of a contractor to run the Molokai recycling facility and the certified redemption center. The county Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, is requesting bid offers from recycling facility operators to manage and operate the Molokai Recycling Facility and the Certified Redemption Center at the Molokai Integrated Solid Waste Facility (MISWF).
There will be a pre-bid meeting and site visit on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. at the Molokai Recycling Facility.
On the same day at noon at the same location will be a pre-proposal meeting and site visit regarding a request for proposals from recycling facility contractors to manage the Molokai greenwaste operations.
Last November, Maui County Mayor Charmaine Tavares awarded a $200,625 contract for a recycling collection event program to Kitagawa Towing & Metal Recycling. Two recycling events were held in the past year.
