Free local workshops in American Sign Language

Two free sessions in American Sign Language will be offered at University of Hawaii Maui College, Molokai.

Hawaii Centers for Independent Living, in conjunction with the UH College system, will hold these once-in-a-lifetime free workshops.

American Sign Language workshops come to Molokai.


Session one runs from Aug. 29 to Sept. 2 at the Molokai Education Center from 10 a.m. to noon. Session two is Sept. 5-9 at Home Pumehana Recreation Center from 6-8 p.m.

Alex Young is the instructor for these classes. Encouraged to attend are government, non-profit agencies and private sector representatives. These workshops will be worthwhile for those who wish to better serve the deaf community.

The Hawaii Centers for Independent Living offers a mahalo to Alex Young for generously volunteering his skills and abilities to bring this training to Molokai.
