New Fire Captain starts tomorrow in Kaunakakai

Six firefighters in the Maui County Fire Department have been promoted to the rank of Fire Captain this month.

One of the six has been assigned to Molokai. Jeff Giesea will be the new Fire Captain in Kaunakakai.

The other firefighters and their new assignments are: Charles Smith in Kihei, Kelan Puaa in Lahaina, Christopher Platiro in Kula and David Fenton and Michael Werner, both to be stationed in Napili.

Maui County's six new Fire Captains.

Currently, all six are still in training for their new positions at the MFD Administrative Building on Dairy Road. Their promotions will be effective tomorrow, April 16, and will help fill some recent retirements in the department.

This is the second largest Fire Captain class that the department has had in recent history. The department promoted eight fire fighters to the rank of Fire Captain on November 4, 2002.
