Tennis teams opens up season with loss at Lahainaluna

The spring sports season has begun with the Molokai boys and girls tennis teams taking on Lahianaluna at Lahainaluna on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Farmers, both teams dropped all their matches in straight sets.

The boys’ only match victory was by default as they lost to the Lunas four matches to one. In number-one singles, Stephen Adolfson, Lahainaluna, defeated Dino DeSlavio of Molokai 6-2, 6-1, while at No. 2 singles, Mehran Karimabadi lost to Jackson Britt 6-1, 6-1. The Lunas won both doubles matches — Evan Pascual and Wasseem Bel were 6-4, 6-3 winners over Tanner Trout and Nathan O’Hanlon at No. 1, and at No. 2 Ty Scott and Jordan Baclay teamed for a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Raymond Vo and Evan Blumer.

For the girls, No. 2 doubles team of Abi Sauers and Davyana San had the best showing for Molokai, pushing Lakiesha Ching and Mae Bautista of Lahainaluna to 6-4, 7-6. None of the other Farmer girls won more than one game in a set as the team lost five matches to none.
