Tropical storm Guillermo downgraded, high surf advisory issued

Tropical Storm Guillermo is approaching Hawaii, and while forecasters do not expect the storm to directly affect state weather, the National Weather Service is issuing a surf advisory for those living on the east shores of Molokai, Maui and the Big Island,

Tropical storm Guillermo was downgraded from a hurricane earlier this week when it dropped to 70 miles per hour.

Though Guillermo is weakening in speed, it is expected to generate large swells on exposed windward shores.

The High Surf Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
